"I've stopped for just a moment when I hear it. I have to cock my head around to the side to be sure, but there it is again. Rue's four-note tune coming out of a mockingjay's mouth. The one that means shes all right.

I grin and move in the direction of the bird. Another, just a short distance ahead, picks up on the handful of notes. Rue has been singing to them, and recently. Otherwise they'd have taken up some other song. My eyes lift up into the trees, searching for a sign of her. I swallow and sing softly back, hoping she'll know it's safe to join me. A mockingjay repeats the melody to me. And thats when I hear the scream."

I went and saw the movie yesterday, and I thought it was really well done, staying very true to the book. This scene in the movie was not as powerful to me as it was in the book though because they don't really give you time in the movie to get to know Rue. I just wish Rue got more time in the movie. A very moving and sad scene it is though. Please interpret this art as you would like--for me it has its own meanings, but I don't want to limit yours by explaining mine.

Listened to this beautiful song [link] and various other piano pieces while drawing this. The notes pictured are the actual notes of Rue's melody from the movie

EDIT: Thank you so much for all the love this peace has gotten! Aside from being for THG, this is a personal piece that means a lot to me. I just want to let everyone know that I eventually plan to redraw this, making it nearly the same thing but paying better attention to anatomy on the mockingjay and composition
